Or, as a good friend of mine recently asked me (and I&#8217;m paraphrasing here for the sake of drama), &#8216;Can&#8217;t you just go on a trip without drowning in utter chaos close to departure at least ONCE?&#8217;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So, after one of the most complicated years of my adult life, I&#8217;ve finally left for South America, a trip that should have happened ages ago but probably just waited for the exact right time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I admit: I never prepare for anything when it comes to traveling and I either ignore recommendations completely or take them at face value without even questioning them ONCE &#8211; the latter being the case with the decision of how to start the trip.<br>After weeks of indecisiveness (eg. which part of the continent should I visit, how long should it take, do I even WANT to go, &#8230;?) a couple of recommendations from different people spread across the globe dropped at the same time, the most important ones being:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If you only have 3 months, you should visit Chile, Bolivia and Peru<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The cheapest flight destinations are either Buenos Aires or Rio de Janeiro<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Being the well prepared traveler that I am, I immediately started looking into flights to Buenos Aires with the plan in mind to cross Argentina as quickly as possible and venture on to Chile.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Subscribe to new posts in the sidebar or at the bottom of the page on mobile Since visiting this part of the globe fell flat during the last trip (thanks to dropping it in favour of the great faraway land of Oz), I still had this debt to settle with myself.
